Roeqiya Fris is a Dutch-Egyptian adventurer, artist and teacher who lives in Rotterdam. She creates these eye-popping colourful illustrations of exotic scenes inspired by her childhood memories of travelling – and I’ve just discovered her Etsy shop.
My mother is from Egypt and I have beautiful memories of being in Egypt for holidays as a child. Everything there looked so different from the Netherlands, the colours, the buildings, the food, even my family. I loved it! I often think about these times and these memories are the inspiration for my illustrations.”
