First day back at work after all the holiday fun, calls for some help to ease us gently back into reality. I have a good feeling this beautiful short film from the Vimeo archives about a violin maker in New York called Sam Zygmuntowicz will hit the spot.
I didn’t realise I’d be so taken watching violins being made until I watched this. I also had no idea just how deep a connection the maker has with his craft and each musician he’s crafting an instrument for. I was mesmerised.
It also looks like it was supposed to be part of a Made in Brooklyn which looks like it never got off the ground. Perhaps because it’s so brilliant, the filmmaker Dustin Cohen was snapped up for something big after it came out. Who knows. Anyway, here it is, kick back and enjoy.
