You know when you get a new hairstyle, you do a double-take when you look in the mirror, you hardly recognise yourself? Well, that’s how I feel today! Because the Ellie & Co team stayed up all night and got a makeover – oh yeh! And I have to say, I am loving ‘my’ new look!
I started my blog a couple of years ago and I’ll be honest. I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing. But I’d just left my job, needed a distraction and something fun to focus on. I also knew I had lots to share. So I set to it. I chose a name, signed up to Blogger, made a logo on Pic Monkey – all in about 30 mins flat – and started writing.
I realised the blog had potential when someone discovered my posts on Brighton and asked me to write a Secret Brighton guidebook. People have also started Googling me – omg! So a few months ago, just before the book was launched, I decided it was time to give my amateur blog an upgrade.
Today, I’m proud to present to you the final result. Ta da! What do you think? I hope you like it! My logo and the colour scheme are my favourite part, and I’m happier with the ‘cleaner’ look. Design-wise, I took inspiration from nostalgic old California advertising posters from the 60s and 70s. Five reasons: I am intrigued by all styles from the 60s and 70s; I LOVE old travel advertising posters; I wanted something fun to reflect the ‘off-beat’ nature of my blog and personality; I think (and write) about travel A Lot, and finally… my all-time fave adventure to date is a west-coat USA road trip. Phew – I think that just about covers everything! If you’re intrigued to know more, you can have a look at my Pinterest board here.
Of course, a spangly new design doesn’t guarantee my website will always run 100% smoothly, so please bear with me while I fix any bugs and make tweaks. Feel free to point out any glitches you might notice, too.
Looking ahead, I’m going to be blogging far more consistently on all my weird and wonderful discoveries in Brighton and elsewhere – I’ve so much more to share! If there’s anything you’d like me to write about, let me know. I’m also going to send out regular newsletter soon, so please feel free to sign up, below.
(Also, not forgetting a HUGE thanks to Miss Moss for making this happen. She was great to work with, I’d highly recommend her for your new website.)
