Today, I thought we could do a little dreaming and imagine we’re booking a trip to London and need a hotel to stay in. I’ve recently been craving a romantic city getaway in my hometown. It’s been so long since I had a weekend in the big smoke, and I’ve lots of treasure hunting I want to do. When I visit London, it’s usually for work, for a leisure day trip, or if I visit for the weekend, I’ll stay with friends. But I’ve bookmarked the Artist Residence for future trips. It’s owned by the same stylish couple who run the Brighton hotel I recommend most. Let’s take a look around…

artist residence hotel pimlico london

It’s a small,  stylish and inexpensive hotel set in a Georgian townhouse in Pimlico just five minutes’ walk from Victoria train station. It has a cosy bohemian atmosphere – with lots of exposed brickwork, original wooden floors, vintage bits, kilim cushions and rugs, local art, and lots of comfy slouchy armchairs. There are plenty of luxuries, too, like amazing rainfall showers and roll-top baths.

There are 10 rooms in total including this club room, spread across a beautiful Georgian townhouse, each with straightforward-sounding names – ‘small’, ‘medium’, ‘the loft’ and ‘club suite’. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed for a romantic city break, or maybe even a honeymoon.

If you think the decor looks familiar, that’s because it’s the creation of the same stylish couple who opened its Brighton sister – the original hotel in the growing Artist Residence portfolio (there are now five Artist Residences around England, including an this playful Cotswolds pub and a West Country haven).

There’s also a fun restaurant set in what was once an old traditional Victorian London pub and a secret cocktail bar hidden underneath which also hosts a monthly art exhibition.

I hope you enjoyed your tour of the Artist Residence London.

Find the Artist Residence London at 52 Cambridge Street, Pimlico SW1V 4QQ.
